System Control Management Accountant

The Role

Reporting to the CFO, the Systems Control Management Accountant will play a central role in the Reporting, Management and Control of the business during its next phase of growth of Ireland, UK and wider international business.

The successful individual will take ownership of business systems both Financial and Operational while working closely with key business stakeholders from Production, Supply Chain as well as members of the Finance team. This is a key appointment and the individual must be fully versed in finance management and the ability to apply their knowledge and experience to the operational side of the business.

As the business intends to implement an ERP system appropriate to its requirements for continued growth, the individual will play a lead part in working closely with CFO and other key stakeholders to take such a project live.

System Control and Management

The business currently has two manufacturing/engineering sites that are managed by a capable software package. In the immediate term the individual will:

  • Become a system champion for the business and the go-to person for all system related queries.
  • Review current processes and controls and set an agenda to improve the management of including;
    • Interfaces
    • Uploads
    • Having basic controls in place
    • Quickly gain a strong understanding and document the integration process and workflows between PROTEAN (Production and Invoice generating system) and other system including SAGE and salesforce.
    • Review the stock and equipment recorded in PROTEAN and maintain accurate, up to date records.
    • Review hire contracts and ensure controls are in place for accurate data to be maintained.
    • Work with team members to build knowledge of the system and where appropriate attend training on the systems.
    • Develop new reports to facilitate management and ongoing work processes within the business implementation.
    • Responsible for the reconciliation process and control to ensure accurate data exists between all systems such as revenue, direct costs, customer details, product locations/site etc.
    • Responsible for the management and completion of monthly close processes.
    • Ownership for key monthly reconciliations including but not limited to all aspects of fixed assets, stock and WIP.
    • Assist with and where necessary develop efficient processes to manage and control intercompany transactions, with a view to automating these processes where possible.
    • Liaise with the software provider for training, support and technical requirements and development and provide training on the system for office and production staff as needed.

Financial Management

  • Actively involved in preparing the management accounts at month-end involving:
    • Journal posting
    • Interface reconciliations (Such as revenue and direct costs)
    • Fixed Assets update and depreciation
    • Stock and WIP
    • Review and draft accounts
    • Updating of specific KPI’s
    • Analysis of variance to budget and prior year
    • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and review for sign off

Other project work

  • Involvement in detailed budgeting and forecasting
  • Ad hoc deep-dive analysis of revenue and expenditure
  • Specific areas targeted for process improvement

Requirements of the role

  • Qualified accountant with minimum 5-7 years post qualification experience
  • Strong systems capability and ability to quickly understand system functionality
  • Strong Excel skillset with the ability to develop Excel models from extracted data from systems
  • Confident in their own ability and must be willing to learn and develop their skills
  • Ideally 5 years experience in a manufacturing/supply chain environment
  • Experience of large volumes of intercompany transfers
  • Multi-Site, Multi-Currency business experience an advantage
  • Experience in a business with a turnover of €20 million +
