UK & Ireland Production Manager

The CRS Group are currently recruiting a production manager for the UK & Ireland which is based in Ireland with regular travel to the UK. 

Job Description: 

  • Plan, manage and monitor the workings of various departments within the organisation supporting the operational day to day needs
  • Responsible for ensuring all Production staff are competent and trained to the required standard to carry out assigned activities in a professional and effective manner.
  • Running daily Production meetings escalating issues as required to the responsible department
  • Plan, communicate and set daily & weekly goal expectations to each production pod, with a sense of urgency, and accountability measures
  • Development of weekly Production Reports including output, overtime, stock lists etc
  • Work with Engineering team on Continuous Improvements projects making improvements particularly to the process to reduce build time/increase efficiency
  • Interviewing, onboarding and inductions of new Production staff
  • Maintain raw and finished unit stock lists at all times understanding required finished stocks unit profile and building units for stock during periods where production orders are less than capacity
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are strictly adhered to and promoted within the organisation including driving and implementing housekeeping best practice
  • Promote a safety-first culture, quickly identify & resolve any safety hazards
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel including formal performance management process and working with HR on any performance-related issues
  • Monitor and report on raw material usage and availability required in daily production
  • Monitor and report on material and labour variances to meet established standards ensuring all operatives time is being allocated on job cards correctly
  • Organise, plan and optimise the utilisation of all the production resources in all areas.
  • Administration duties that include updating metrics, Time and Attendance system, tracking and monitoring overtime, Holiday planning etc.
  • Decision making, resolving issues quickly and effectively managing priorities
  • Assist and prepare for monthly cycle counts and year-end stock take
  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent negotiating and influencing ability, demonstrated success in managing change, developing a team, and managing performance issues

Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years working in similar Production management or Supervisory role.
  • Competence in production planning & scheduling
  • Experience in the Fabrication/structural engineering or mechanical engineering sectors would be an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Lean techniques would be an advantage
  • Experience in managing compliance with Quality, Health and Safety procedures.

Note that this role supports Manufacturing plants in both Ireland and the UK so the successful candidate must be able to split their time as required between the 2 sites
