Blast Freezer

“I would have no hesitation in recommending CRS container blast freezers to anyone interested in blast freezing food type products.

The advantages of having a container type blast freezer vs. a spiral type system is that the labour input is minimal and you can freeze without having employees involved in running the process.

We can simply push racks of products into the freezer, turn it on and forget about it for several hours, once product is frozen we then pull the racks and pack, palletise and store.  The option of running the blast unit as a normal storage freezer is another advantage and works in well with our production scheduling.

We have now had the blast freezer in operation for 3 months and have found the unit to be efficient, reliable and user friendly.  Our product has improved and our production capabilities significantly enhanced by having blast freezing capabilities.”

We decided that we needed to install a temperature monitoring system in the freezer, fridge and walk in cold room in our Blanchardstown branch to ensure that all produce was being stored at the correct temperatures and food safety standards were being met.

As a food service organisation we must meet with HACCP standards and with €8,000 worth of stock being stored at any given time it is imperative to us, not only from a quality point of view but also for customer safety that temperatures are maintained.

We purchased a 10’ Grade A freezer unit for outside our house as a replacement to the 3 chest freezers we were using to store our fruit.

Not only did the supplied unit provide us with a more energy efficient solution but it has proved to be so much more convenient and easier to manage.

I found using the chest freezers was very difficult on my back as I was lifting and bending into them to store my produce.  Now I can easily put the fruit into the freezer unit and shut the door.

CRS provide us with all of our cold storage equipment, temperture monitoring system and freezers on an ongoing basis and provide service for all equipment in our shop in Glasthule.  We also hire external cold storage units from them providing us with extra seasonal storage space, in particular for Christmas and Easter.

Two years ago CRS built us two new chill coldrooms and a freezer cold room with zanotti refrigeration equipment for our new processing area.

In 2012 we needed temporary storage for some of our products, both chill and ambient, for approximately 6 months while we were preparing for a move to a new facility.

With our reputation for the highest quality Keelings Farm Fresh had to be satisfied that the equipment was going to be reliable and of excellent standard. Reassured of this, we hired one Mega Cold Store, which we were able to run at 10 degrees and two forty foot A grade units which ran at 3 degrees , for 6 months.

We were delighted with the service offered by CRS Cold Storage, it was second to none. Installation and removal was carried out very smoothly and when they said that would be onsite, they arrived and they always worked to our timelines and not their own. We had one issue during the rental time where a door of one unit was damaged during a heavy storm. It only took one call to CRS and they had repair staff on site within a couple of hrs and the door was repaired.

The equipment served its purpose wholeheartedly and was very well put together, offering us lots of options that we didn’t have before.

In 2012 we bought a number of items from CRS Cold Storage but in particular we purchased a two Rmoni temperature monitoring kits. One of the kits was for our IT server room to monitor the temperatures of the room, maintaining the safety of this very sensitive equipment.

The system was very easy to install and worked so well for us that we decided to purchase another unit for our reception area which is mostly floor to ceiling glass and so we had issues with with temperature control during summer and winter.

CRS fitted a wall mounted unit to both rooms and the system allows us to monitor temperatures remotely and alerts us to any potential problems, giving us peace of mind.
